Enhancing the Pozzolanic Reactivity of Spent Bleaching Earth Ash (SBEA) in Binary Blended Cement Mortar through Calcination

نویسندگان

چکیده

The effects of calcination on spent bleaching earth ash (SBEA) were investigated in terms its contribution to pozzolanic reactivity as well the strength blended cement mortar when used partial substitution. SBEA waste, which is plentiful global stock, showed some potential material reduce reliance traditional clinker cement. However, actual research use replacement and how it may benefit from was still very limited. This paper can conclude that contains sufficient silica alumina oxides satisfactory levels be classified Class N natural pozzolan. By calcining up a temperature 700 °C, improved due amorphisation contents, leading an increase allowable level replacements 30 40 % peak achieved. These findings allowed calcined greater volume compared untreated SBEA. It also worth noting excessively high around 900 °C found detrimental both development mortars.

Reuse of spent bleaching earth by polymerisation of residual organics.

Spent bleaching earth (SBE) is a waste generated by the edible oil industry that currently has limited options for beneficial reuse. In excess of ∼2 million tonnes per year of SBE is generated world-wide with major quantities available in the middle-east where significant volumes of edible oils are produced. Low pressure compaction followed by heat treatment at 150°C causes polymerisation of th...

Acceleration of Intended Pozzolanic Reaction under Initial Thermal Treatment for Developing Cementless Fly Ash Based Mortar

Without using strong alkaline solution or ordinary Portland cement, a new structural binder consisting of fly ash and hydrated lime was hardened through an intensified pozzolanic reaction. The main experimental variables are the addition of silica fume and initial thermal treatment (60 °C for 3 days). A series of experiments consisting of mechanical testing (compressive and flexural strength, m...

Corrosion Resistance Performance of Fly Ash Blended Cement Concretes

Durability of reinforced concrete with respect to corrosion of reinforcement is one of the major aspects to be considered in the management of civil infrastructure systems. An accelerated laboratory test method developed at SERC where the concrete specimen containing rebar is subjected to polarization under a constant voltage in a sodium chloride solution. It is found that the current response ...

This paper presents the effect of Hydrochloric acid (HCl) on Blended Cement (Fly ash based(BC)) and Silica Fume Blended Cement(SFBC) and their concretes. The BC and SFBC and their concretes BCC and SFBCC produced with HCl dosage of 100, 150, 300, 500 and 900 mg/l added in deionised water. In addition to this control specimens were prepared with deionised water (without HCl) for comparison. The ...
